The riddle of the night is tied to ‘Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger‘ book, located in the Silent Library.
The Silent Library is a room with a Silence effect cast over it. Further, it is an ominous chamber with many traps and enemies.
Furthermore, the book tells the story of the Nightsinger, a powerful being created by Shar to spread her influence and curse.
The riddle is asked by a plinth in a locked room that can be accessed by solving the mural puzzle in the Silent Library.
The plinth says: “What can kill the Nightsong?” and expects you to place an item on it as an answer.
Steps To Solve Riddle Of The Night
The answer to the riddle of the night is the same book that you found in the Silent Library, Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger.
To solve the riddle of the night, you need to do the following steps:
1. Find The Book
Go to the Silent Library and find the bookshelf with the Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger book.
Further, you can use your Perception or Investigation skills to spot it among other books.
However, you must be careful of the traps and enemies in this room.
2. Take The Book To Plinth Room
Take the book and go back to the plinth room. Place the book on the plinth as an answer to the riddle.
Here, the door will open, revealing a secret chamber containing rewards.
3. Enter The Secret Chamber
Enter the secret chamber and loot the Dark Justiciar Helmet and Spear of Night rewards.
Similarly, these rewards are inspired by Sebille’s character from Divinity: Original Sin 2.
The helmet provides bonuses to saving throws against spells and constitution. In contrast, the spear deals extra damage.
Rewards For Solving The Riddle Of The Night
Players will get two rewards after solving the Riddle of the Night.
The rewards for solving the riddle of the night are as follows:
1. Dark Justiciar Helmet
The dark Justiciar Helmet will grant a +1 bonus to saving throws against spells and constitution.
Similarly, it also reduces the critical hit threshold by 1 when obscured.
2. Spear Of Night
This spear inflicts 3-10 damage and possesses a +1 weapon enchantment, making it capable of slaying Nightsong.
Moreover, the Nightsong is a key figure in Shadowheart’s story arc.
After completing the riddle, players can find Spear of Night in the treasure room.
3. Dark Justiciar Half-Plate
Players can find Dark Justiciar Half-Plate in front of the altar of Shar.
This armor has Shar’s Umbrae and Shar’s Aegis.
Shar’s Umbrae provides advantages on Stealth Checks whereas Shar’s Aegis is a level 1 abjuration spell.
